Like all other theatres, we regularly receive scripts from all over France and abroad. The least we could do was to organize ourselves and read each script.

Together, the actors, directors and writers of the theatre formed a reading committee.

That is how Les Lectures de la Huchette (The Readings of the Huchette) came about in 2003.

The association Les Amis du Théâtre de la Huchette, (Friends of the Theatre de la Huchette), supported by the SACD, regularly offers public readings of new plays in order to be able to share its favorites and maybe even bring about the introduction between a playwright and a director, an actor, a theatre…

Of about 150 scripts read in ten years over thirty have been produced or are in development at the Theatre de la Huchette or in other theatres.

Organized by the actors of the Theatre de la Huchette, these readings are followed by a meeting with the playwrights.

Admission is open to all upon reservation by calling 01 42 49 27 97 or at

By adopting the point of view of a Chapeau Melon, “innocent eye” and impartial, Yordan Raditchkov put up in a clear way and demonstrate the nonsense of a totalitarian system and refers to the bad effects on people.

“I think the human is dead. The Chapeau Melon stayed ! He didn’t shave himself, didn’t eat, didn’t sneeze, he didn’t know either the alphabet, but he’s still there. The world is full of unfairness like this.”
